Dwarka Mor to get underpass

The city government has appointed a consultant for the construction of a multiple underpass at Dwarka Mor, which would go a long way in eliminating traffic jams on Najafgarh Road especially near Dwarka Mor and nearby colonies.

Delhi PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan along with Parliamentary Secretary to CM Mukesh Sharma, engineer-in-chief  of PWD and other chief engineers and engineers from South Delhi Municipal Corporation visited the site on Tuesday to assess and evaluate the possibilities of construction of a multiple underpass at Dwarka Mor.

Chauhan claimed that the Chief Minister  Sheila Dikshit has acted fast on the assurances given by her in the mammoth rally organised at Mohan Garden last Sunday. According to him, Dikshit told to work in the direction of construction of a feasible underpass that would benefit the commuters.

Chauhan also directed the PWD to make the road sections from Uttam Nagar Terminal to Dwarka Mor as signal-free. He claimed that the construction of underpass would benefit the residents of four assembly segments – Najafgarh, Matiala, Janakpuri and Vikaspuri. It may be recalled that  Sharma in the rally had demanded the construction of an underpass at Dwarka Mor, which was accepted by the chief minister.

Chauhan also directed the PWD to install signages on Najafgarh Road on the lines of the ones installed during the Commonwealth Games.  Chauhan also reviewed the progress of the ongoing works.  Sharma asked Chauhan to expedite work on construction of an elevated road from Kakrola Regulator to Wazirabad as this will benefit the south, west and north-east. Further,  Chauhan announced construction of  concrete road between Kakrola Mor and Uttam Nagar terminal.
