DUTA GBM on four-year UG model draws criticism

The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) landed itself in controversy with its open-air general body meeting (GBM), held at the Ramjas College ground on Sunday.

Many teachers across the colleges gathered in the open inside the Ramjas College campus for the Special GBM of the DUTA on the four-year undergraduate programme, which was highly condemned by the DUTA secretary SD Siddiqui.

Criticising the meeting the DUTA secretary said 'It was not a DUTA GBM, but a handful of disgruntled Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) and Students Federation of India (SFI) activist who had gathered to vent their frustration and hold the DUTA to ransom'. He also claimed that 'on 2 May, the DUTA president had illegally convened a DUTA GBM without taking the DUTA executive committee into confidence'.  The DUTA GBM rejected the four-year undergraduate programme and termed it ‘against the national education policy’.
