DUTA chief cries foul as DU raises complaints with Stephen’s

The president of the DU teachers’ body and senior St Stephen’s faculty member, Nandita Narain, is caught in a row with the varsity writing to her college over complaints against her from some colleges even as she termed the matter a “conspiracy” planned by the DU VC and her college’s principal.

Delhi University wrote to Stephen’s highlighting the complaints against Narain, but the college shot the communication down saying that the charges were not specific to it.

Therefore, DU would be the appropriate authority for initiating any action in the matter, it said. Some DU-affiliated colleges like Kalindi College, Deshbandhu College and the varsity’s School of Open Learning (SOL) had complained to the DU administration that Narain has been interfering in their functioning.

“The Governing Body (of St Stephen’s) decided to write to the Vice-Chancellor regarding the matter as none of the complaints raised in the varsity’s communication pertain to St Stephen’s college. Hence, the university will be the competent authority to take any appropriate action against her,” Stephen’s principal Valson Thampu said.

Narain, meanwhile, rubbished the complaints, saying they have been orchestrated in order to remove her.
