DUSU elections: Four caught campaigning with countrymade pistols and bullets

The police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered two countrymade pistols along with 16 bullets from the possession of four boys who were campaigning for the Delhi University Students Union election.

One of the students caught with the arms is a student of the Faculty of Law. The students were campaigning near Hindu College when they were apprehended. 

‘During the campaigning process, our officers have caught the four boys named Prashant Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, Pankaj, Subodh and Anuj. Subodh has been identified as a student of Faculty of Law. Two countrymade pistols and 16 bullets have been recovered from them,’ Sindu Pillai, deputy commissioner of police, north, said.

‘The four revealed that they were campaigning for a law faculty student named Siddharth,’ he said. A case was registered of criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint has been lodged. Police have recorded the statements of the accused. The college authorities have also ordered an inquiry into the matter, police said.
