Undergraduate English examination for Delhi university s School of Open Learning (SOL) was on Wednesday cancelled following reports of leak of question paper on WhatsApp. SOL’s director C S Dubey said that the paper was cancelled after it emerged that it has been leaked.
The paper, in which around 55,000 students had to appear, has now been scheduled for June 24 at 9 am by SOL. Dubey said that an FIR has also been lodged in the case. The incident came to light on early Wednesday morning when an English teacher received a message on a WhatsApp group. After the teacher opened the message, it was learnt that it was an examination paper. When the teacher downloaded the image file, it was found that it was the English paper that was supposed to be held on Wednesday.
Soon after, the teacher informed the college faculty and the paper was cancelled a few hours before it was scheduled to be held. The faculty informed the police about the paper leak and based on a complaint and a screenshot of the WhatsApp group, a case under Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 409 of the IPC has been registered at Maurice Nagar police station. An internal probe has also been ordered to find out how the paper was leaked.
