A murder involving high-profile suspects is a dream case for any police officer. Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria is due for a promotion next month and many are considering the Sheena Bora case his parting shot.
Maria has put his most trusted officers to conduct the probe. The officers include those involved in the 26/11 investigation such as Dattatray <g data-gr-id="19">Bhargude</g>, Dinesh Kadam and Sanjay Kadam.
According to sources, Dinesh Kadam was transferred to the police station in charge of the case just after the tip-off was received about Sheena Bora. These men have worked with Maria for years and have trained in the city’s elite Crime Branch.
Maria has monitored the investigation very closely and has also handled the interrogation of Indrani Mukerjea himself. He questioned Indrani the day she was arrested and spent seven hours grilling her on Thursday. The officers, however, refused to come on record on the case.
