DU to treat Informatics Practice at par with elective subject

The CBSE chairperson Vineet Joshi had written a letter to the DU Vice Chancellor stating, ‘it would be unfair and discriminatory to deduct 2.5 per cent from the aggregate marks of those aspirants who had opted for Informatics Practices as an elective in Class 12 exams.’

He also added that CBSE treats both the subjects of computer stream such as Computer Science and Informatics Practices on par with elective subjects.

The university had earlier stated that 2.5 marks would be deducted for aspirants wanting to Computer Science at the undergraduate level, if they had studied Informatics Practices as an elective subject in class 12.

Similarly, those with Functional English in Class 12 would also not incur a disadvantage – 2 per cent deduction from the aggregate marks - while seeking admission in English Honours.
‘Informatics Practices would be treated as an elective subject at par with Computer Science and Functional English would be treated at par with English Core,’ said the Joint Dean of Students’ welfare and media coordinator, Malay Neerav.
