The Delhi University's (DU) third list was announced late on Sunday and did not offer much hope to candidates, seeking admission to popular commerce and science courses.
Even though the university will announce two more cut-off lists after this, the third list indicated that most institutions are well on their way to wrap up the admission process for 2016-17. With a marginal dip of .25 to .50 per cent in the third cut-off list, most of the colleges have closed their doors for admission to many popular courses. Only reserve category seats are open in some institutes.
Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), one of the most sought-after institutes, did not reduce a cut-off for B.Com (H) as. In the third cut-off list, the college has lowered .5 per cent for BA (H) Economics.
The cut-off for B.Com (H) was 97.5 per cent, while for Economics it was 97.25 per cent at SRCC, which only offers these two courses.
Ramjas College has reduced the cut-off for several courses by 1.5 per cent. The college had released the first cut-off for B.Com(H) at 99.25 per cent, the highest by a DU college.
“The official data is not yet available. But there are still some seats left in the course,” said Rajendra Prasad, principal, Ramjas College.
The cut-off for B.Com (Pass) reduced by .5 per cent from 98.75 to 97.25 per cent.
At Kirori Mal College, admission to BA (Pass) course has closed, while for English, the cut-off was reduced by .5 per cent to 95.5. Seats for History and Physical Science have been occupied. However, the college is offering BA (H) Economics at 97 per cent cut-off.
Meanwhile, in South Campus, no sharp dip in the cut-off list was seen, excluding College of Vocational Studies (CVS).
Seats for the reserved category students are still up for grab as the cut-off for admission to various programme is still on the higher side.
