DU still a distant dream for many as second cut-off brings no relief

In the second cut-off list of Delhi University, declared on Monday, the percentage has marginally come down by 0.5 to 1 <g data-gr-id="39">per cent</g> for various courses but the minimum qualification mark to get entry into the university still remains over 90 percent.
“To avoid any unwanted situation arising due to over admissions, each college announces high cut-offs in the first list. Once the students with high percentage get themselves admitted in one college, second and subsequent colleges, cut-off marks drop in almost all colleges,” said an official of the University.
Many colleges have closed admissions to premium courses after the first round of <g data-gr-id="36">admissions</g> but still many courses are up for a grab in the second cut-off list. Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) closed admissions of B Com (Hons) for the general category. Students of reserved <g data-gr-id="35">categories however</g> can still get admissions in the course at percentages above 90 <g data-gr-id="33">per cent</g>. The cut-off for the famous BA Economics (Hons) course was reduced only marginally and set at 97.75 <g data-gr-id="34">per cent</g>.
The campus of College of Vocational Studies was nearly deserted in the first round of admissions. Aspirants of B Sc Computer Science (Hons) required a perfect 100 per cent cut-off to get admissions.
However, in the second cut-off list the percentage was marginally reduced to a range of 98.5-99.75 <g data-gr-id="23">per cent</g>. The college also reduced the cut-off <g data-gr-id="24">per cent</g> for B Com (Hons) from 98 <g data-gr-id="25">per cent</g> to a range of percentage from 95.5 to 97.75 <g data-gr-id="26">per cent</g>. The cut-off for BA Economics (Hons) is set at 95.5- 96.75 <g data-gr-id="27">per cent</g>.
Kirori Mal College reduced the cut-off percentage for its science courses by 2 <g data-gr-id="28">per cent</g>. The cut-off <g data-gr-id="29">per cent</g> for premium courses like BA Economics (Hons), BA English (Hons), B Com (Hons) was set at 97.25, 96.75 and 95.50 per cent respectively. BA Political Science (Hons) and BA History (Hons) saw marginal reductions of nearly one per cent.
