After the rollback of Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) at DU, it seems that even Registrar Alka Sharma has to leave her office as per the letter given by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
‘The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal for cancelling the extended period of deputation and premature repatriation of Alka Sharma, Registrar, University of Delhi, to her cadre-Ministry of Defence,’ said an official memorandum issued by DoPT on 20 August, 2014.
Alka Sharma, who was granted an extension till June 2015, this year in January has been under attack for the same.
‘According to the DoPT rules, no government officer is allowed more than seven years of deputation. Sharma, who is at a director-level post, is entitled to five years. She completed seven years on 21 January, 2014, with an understanding that there will be no further extension. But, on January 24, her stay was extended till June 2015 in violation of rules,’ said Nandita Narain, president, Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA).
