DU professor’s house raided, teachers express resentment

On Thursday at around 3 pm, a raid was conducted by Delhi police special cell along with other police officers at the residence of a Delhi University professor. The DU staff expressed unhappiness over the way police behaved during the raid.

Police officials had the information that the residence of Dr. GN Saibaba, assistant professor of English at Ram Lal Anand College is being used as a place to hide stolen property. The police conducted a raid with a search warrant.

The 50-member raid team included members of the Maharashtra police, accompanied by

Delhi police special cell officers and few officials of Maurice Nagar police station.

Talking about the development, Delhi University official on condition of anonymity said, ‘We are unhappy with the treatment meted out by the police. Saibaba’s residence is in the university premises, and as such the university administration is clearly complicit in granting permission for the raid.’
