DU polls for academic, executive councils

Delhi University (DU) went for the polling for Executive Council and Academic Council on Thursday. After a gap of two years, DU polled for 26 posts of Academic Council and two posts of Executive council. The annual elections are held on the basis of open ballot.
A DU official said polling for these prestigious posts was held in 43 centres located in the Delhi University, comprising both North and South campus.
Arts faculty of Delhi university located in the North campus was the biggest polling center for these elections.
‘As many as 37 candidates contested for 26 Academic Council seats and five candidates for two seats of Executive Council. The result for the Executive Council will be declared on Friday,’ he added.
In elections, around 60 to 70 per cent of polling was recorded between 10.30 am to 4.30 pm in all centers. The polling was administered under very high security and no complaint was recorded.
The Academic Council is the highest academic body of the university and is responsible for the maintenance of standards of instruction, education and examination.
It has the right to advise the Executive Council on all academic matters. On other hand, The Executive Council is the highest executive body of the Delhi University.
