In a move to make its admission process more tech-friendly, the University of Delhi (DU) has launched a mobile application for all admission related queries of aspiring students. The android based mobile-app called ‘DUUGAdmission 2014’ will also allow admission seekers to submit their application online and make payment as well.
Dr Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of Student Welfare Association in DU, the man behind the application said that he has tried his best to keep it as user-friendly as possible. ‘The world is moving towards technological advancement. Therefore, we also felt we must have an app of our own which will guide students with the admission process. The app is a one-stop-shop for all DU admission seekers’, said Tuteja, who developed this app with the help of students of the university.
Apart from basic information such as list of colleges, courses, admission schedule, the app also links the colleges to their respective website.Â
‘The college websites are really important since most of the colleges release their cut-offs online. It will help students to directly access a college’s website. It is also linked with Google Maps making it convenient for users to locate any college’, Tuteja said.
Most of the basic information that students require can be accessed in offline mode also so as to keep internet usage to a minimum.Â
‘Basic information such as college directory, admission schedule, important phone numbers, etc can also be accessed offline.Â
‘It’s only when one needs to submit the application form and access the college website, it requires internet’, Tuteja said. The university has also asked for constructive suggestions from the users to make it more people-friendly.Â
‘Any constructive suggestions are welcome from the users as to how the application can be improved in terms of utility’, he added.Â
