DU holds open house for queries on 4-yr model

Thousands of students, aspiring to make it to DU’s undergraduate programme this year, along with their parents, thronged the first day of the two-day open house session on Monday at the Conference Centre in the university’s North Campus, to clear their doubts regarding the four year undergraduate programme. Delhi University is holding the open house to give students and their parents an opportunity to meet college officials and get their doubts about the four-year admission programme cleared.

Students and parents actively participated in the open house and went away satisfied with the information they received regarding system for the coming academic session.

The session started with the movie, which was shown to familiarise students with the admission procedure and campus life at DU. The 15-minute documentary was screened by the dean of student welfare (DSW).

J M Khurana, dean of students welfare explained the entire admission process before the audience and answered all questions related to admission to various courses. While answering questions posed by students and their parents, Khurana said, ‘Candidates who wish to be considered for admission to course for which there are no entrance exams, must either register online or fill in available OMR forms and submit them at the various admission centers in Delhi’.

 There will be no registration form at the college level (online or offline), he said. Khurana also asked students and their parents to approach the Office of Students’ Welfare in case of any queries or doubts.

Later, Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of DSW by updated students about the admission process to various courses. He also informed the students about different avenues and prospects of the subjects offered by the colleges.

M M Chaturvedi, director, Cluster Innovation Centre explained the importance of Cluster Innovation courses and the admission process for B.Tech/BS in Innovation and Mathematics and IT and B.Tech (Humanities).

Prashant, a student of Green Field School, aspiring for a language course at DU this year, said, ‘I am new to DU and hardly know anything about the university or the course offered. This session has not only helped me get answers to my queries regarding the courses but also encouraged aspiring students.’ Kanika Hooda, who was at the open house to seek information for her niece, said, ‘My three sons did their higher education from DU.  I am quite excited about the new course and totally satisfied with the coming programme structured by DU administration’.

While clearing the doubts of the students, Khurana said, ‘The university is also planning to hold more such sessions at both the north as well as in south campus in the coming days.’

Three back-to-back interactive sessions were held and all queries were answered by the team of experts present at the session.
