DU extends last date of admission to 7 August

Extending the last date of admission from 31 July to 7 August, Delhi University directed all the colleges to fill all the vacant reserved
category seats for undergraduate courses.

Dean of students welfare JM Khurana said, ‘We have brought to the notice of the authorities that some seats are still available for candidates of reserved categories in some college of the university which should be filled by 7 August.’

The colleges have been directed to display the number of vacant seats for reserved category students course wise and hold registration for them from 1 to 3 August. However, only those students who have ‘duly filled the forms will be allowed to register themselves’, the university said in a statement.

‘After registering the candidates, the colleges may admit them based on the merit and the number of seats available,’ it said, adding that the admissions may take place between 5 and 7 August.
Khurana further said, ‘If the reserved category seats still remain vacant in scheduled castes (SC) or scheduled tribes (ST) categories then the seats might be interchanged and filled.’

Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of students welfare said, ‘Colleges may be allowed to register the candidates course wise and category wise (only for SC/ST/OBC/PwD) from 1-3 August. They must be given acknowledgement for the registration. The registration is allowed only for those who have duly filled the online/ offline forms.  After registering the candidates, colleges may admit these candidates based on the merit and the number of seats available.
