They don’t have either quota for locals or normalization of marks or entrance tests,” Kejriwal tweeted on Thursday.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came days after his deputy Manish Sisodia wrote to former HRD Minister Smriti Irani suggesting Delhi students be given preference over admission seekers from other states.
In his letter to Irani, Sisodia had said that due to ‘anomalies’ in admission process of DU which is based on cut-offs, lakhs of Delhi students are losing out to applicants from other state boards.
“Delhi government is giving Rs 300 crore annually for 28 DU colleges run by it. So at least in these colleges, Delhi students should be given priority by allotting a weightage of five percentage points from the current session,” Sisodia had said in the letter.
Newly-appointed Union Minister for Sport and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel too has been demanding preference for city students in the admission process of Delhi University. Last month, Goel had met Sisodia and demanded 85 per cent quota for Delhi students in 28 colleges, funded by the Delhi government, out of the total 61 colleges in Delhi University.
Delhi University is a central university under an act of Parliament though 13 of its colleges are fully-funded by the Delhi Government and in another 15 colleges its funding is upto five percent.
