DU admission: Over 1 lakh register online for UG courses

“As many as 113278 aspirants have applied for the undergraduate <g data-gr-id="28">pre admission</g> forms as on May 30 and out of these registered candidates, 52,479 aspirants have already paid the fees” said Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare, Delhi University. Out of the total registrations, the number of general category candidates is 36118. The number of aspirants belonging to OBC category was registered at 10493 while the figure of aspirants from SC/ST/PWD categories stood at 5,896.

Even as a large number of aspirants have already registered for the courses in DU, nearly 500 aspirants flocked the university for the last day of open session on Saturday. However, the last session of Open days was postponed to Monday, June 1 from 10 am to 1 pm due to the Convocation Day of Delhi University. The anxious aspirants and their parents met with the volunteers at the venue to enquire about the admission procedure and eligibility criteria. Students are still confused about the procedure of calculation of best four subjects and disadvantages to <g data-gr-id="32">be</g> born if there is a change of stream.

“I had not taken maths in my Standard XII (Commerce) because till last year it was not a compulsory subject to pursue B. Com (Honours) or B.A Economics (Honours) in Delhi University. But now with the change in <g data-gr-id="30">system</g>, I am left with very little option” said Phalguni an aspirant of B.Com (Honours).

The row over Choice Based Credit System is also a concern among applicants and parents.
