DTU students’ union elects office bearers

Delhi Technical University [formerly called Delhi College of Engineering] peacefully conducted elections for the Student Association on Tuesday.
Manendra Kumar of final year, M Tech [Production Engineering], has been elected as president, Toshiv Goyal of final year B Tech [Automobile Engineering] as vice president and Naveen Khichar of second year [Nano Technology] as General Secretary.
The office bearers were elected by the electoral college comprising 67 class representatives from various disciplines at UG and PG levels, including B Tech [Evening] and MBA program of the university. Manendra was elected undisputed and Toshiv defeated his rival Madhvendra Pratap by a margin of 33 votes, while Naveen, who pooled 36 votes, defeated his nearest rival Lokesh Kumar Meena, who pooled 18 votes.
Approximately 90 per cent students voted in the the election. Earlier, students of each class unanimously elected their representatives, said P R Chadha, Election Officer, DTU. Chadha had, earlier, declared one valid nomination for the post of pand three each for the post of vice president and general secretary.
