The country’s economy might have hit a slowdown. Companies might be firing staff across the board. Employees might have been forced to take pay cuts because of shrinking profit margins, but all this hasn’t come in way of Himanshu Jindal’s dreams.
Jindal, a fourth year student of the department of computer engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU), has got an offer of Rs 93 lakh from Google (US).
The institute claimed that more than 40 reputed companies have visited the university so far and 265 job offers have been received in the first month of current academic year — 2013-14.
Expressing happiness over the offer, Jindal thanked PB Sharma, DTU vice-chancellor, faculty members and his parents for their trust and support. ‘I am feeling very happy that I have got such an excellent placement in a world-renowned company such as Google. This became possible because of my hard work and the blessings of my parents and friends.’
Talking about the interest that companies are showing in the placement process, Sharma said, ‘DTU has been well recognized by the industry. We encourage students to take projects that are relevant to the industry. This way we equip our students with the wings of knowledge and power of innovation for excelling in the field. The phenomenal rise in campus placements truly reflect the faith world-class industries have in DTU.’
DTU public relations officer Ruchika Malhotra said, ‘A few days back 11 students received a package of Rs 70 lakh from Epic, a US-based firm. In addition, one student has been offered a package of Rs 28 lakh from Goldman Sachs, while eight students have been offered a package of Rs 19 lakh from Amazon.’
