DTU holds meet on biotech, biomedical eng

To create better awareness on the role and importance of biotechnology and biomedical engineering – two of the most important emerging areas of study, a national conference on biotechnology and biomedical engineering, IEEE EMB Chapter is being organised by the department of biotechnology, Delhi Technological University (DTU).

Welcoming the dignitaries to the conference, PB Sharma VC of DTU said, 'Like Information Technology, Biotechnology also touches the lives of all. It covers everybody, be it humans, plants, animals and even microbial kingdom, an understanding of which can be crucial to solve many of our present day problems. This conference will dwell on what Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering can offer to make our lives better and create a better world around us.'

The conference broadly covered lectures on  'Science, Education and Research in India' by Ramesh Chandra, founder director of the BR Ambedkar centre for Biomedical Research and Professor of Chemistry at the University of Delhi.

More than 150 faculty and students participated at the conference. It also included student presentations and award distribution.
