DTU doubles PhD fellowships from 50 to 100

The Board of Management (BOM) of Delhi Technological University (DTU), announced several  new decisions after a meeting on 25 April, 2013.

The meeting began with expression of commendation by the BOM for the excellent progress made by the University during the last three years and came up with various decisions, such as the introduction of five new M.Tech programmes with 18 full time and 5 sponsored seats each in industry-relevant areas such as Computational Design, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Renewable Energy Technology, Nuclear Science and Engineering. It was also decided to restructure administrative positions as per UGC norms at the level of Assistant Registrar, Deputy Registrar etc.

The Board of Management has decided to double the number of Ph.D fellowships at DTU from 50 to 100 keeping in view the requirement of Ph.Ds at national level. An MOU has been signed with Samsung Electronics India Limited for introducing B.Tech part time programme, to be run by the Department of Computer Engineering for Samsung employees.

The BOM also decided to fill up of vacant positions at the level of assistant professor, associate professor and professor in various academic departments of DTU through open advertisement. It was also decided to introduce M.S by Research in InfoNano Biotechnologies with a view to further boost the culture of research and innovation at DTU.

The Board also approved the recommendations of the Academic Council of Executive MBA program for practicing techno managers, dual degree program in B.Tech and MBA and B.Tech evening programme in IT for ICT engineers in NCT of Delhi.

PB Sharma, founder vice chancellor of DTU mentioned that 'the faith reposed by the founding fathers of the University has been well responded with major initiatives such as expansion of educational facilities, strengthening of industry interface, collaboration with leading industries and world class universities and with a renewed focus on thrust areas of research and innovations'.

The BOM meeting was chaired by former secretary, government of India and BOM chairman, DTU, R.P. Agrawal and was attended by Rajendra Kumar, secretary TTE and others.
