In view of the auto rickshaw and taxi strike called by the Auto Taxi Unions on Tuesday, the Delhi Transport Corporation [DTC] has made all arrangements to clear the extra rush on account of the auto rickshaw strike. As directed by the transport minister Ramakant Goswami all depot managers and regional managers have been directed to ensure the maximum out-shedding of buses so that passengers are able to reach their destination comfortably.
A number of auto rickshaw and taxi operators' unions will go on a strike demanding hike in fares.
Auto unions have also been protesting against the government's directive to install global positioning systems [GPS] in their vehicles due to the 'high cost' of the equipment.
DTC will deploy extra buses across the city from railway stations, interstate bus terminals, airport, hospitals etc.Meanwhile, a delegation of Rashtriya Rajdhani Kshetra Tipahiyaa Chalak Union Delhi affiliated to All Indian Trade Union Congress along with its associated 14 unions on Monday called on the transport minister in his office to apprise him of their decision of staying away from the proposed auto-taxi strike on Tuesday in Delhi.
