DTC driver’s death: Mother of 19-year-old accused held

On Monday, Delhi Police have arrested the mother of the 19-year-old boy who had beaten a 42-year-old DTC driver to death on Sunday morning after the bus hit the motorcycle from behind in West Delhi’s Mundka area. On late Sunday, the main accused was arrested from Haryana’s Jhajjar area.  

According to the police, his mother — identified as Roshni has been arrested for provoking his son to thrash the driver. She also made a call to few other men who joined his son to beat the driver—Ashok Kumar. Roshni was arrested from Mundka Village on Monday morning.  

It is important to mention that Manjeet, the bus conductor, in his statement told the police that Roshni had kept on instigating her son by saying that the driver must be taught a lesson for meddling with residents of Mundka village. He also told the police that she threatened him of dire consequences if he intervened in the altercation.  

“We are in search of four other men who joined Vijay and killed Ashok. A man-hunt is on to nab them,” a police officer said.
