DTC breakdowns cause traffic congestion

A major cause of pollution and traffic congestions in the national Capital is the breakdown of Delhi Transport Corporation buses.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, more than hundred buses breakdown on a daily basis.
In the Samvaad conference on congestion and pollution held in the Delhi Secretariat, a Traffic police officer delivered his expert views on Tuesday.

Presently, the DTC has a fleet of 5,481 buses, out of which 2,506 are low-floor buses, 1,275 are air-conditioned low-floor buses and the rest 1,600 are standard buses.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai instructed the DTC to immediately solve the problem of breakdowns.

Rai said that his department will ensure that government runs a campaign to make people aware about congestion and pollution-free Delhi.
