A 27-year-old student of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University died under mysterious circumstances, allegedly after he fell from the seventh floor of the hostel. It has been alleged that the victim was consuming alcohol with his two friends on the terrace of the hostel.
The incident took place in South-west Delhi’s Dwarka area on Thursday night. The victim, identified as Mayank Joshi was a first year student of Mass Communication. He was a resident of Haldwani in Uttarakhand and was staying in Aravli hostel at Dwarka Sector-16 in Delhi.
According to the police, at the time of the incident, the victim, along with two of his friends, was consuming alcohol on the hostel’s terrace. Supposedly, Mayank’s friends had gone downstairs, after which some hostel students heard a sound and when they came out of their rooms, they found Mayank’s body lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Meanwhile, the hostel authorities had reported the matter to the police and a team immediately reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem in Rockland hospital in Dwarka.
Sources also claimed that the deceased’s parents have alleged it to be a cold blooded murder.
“An FIR under Section 304 A has been registered at the Dwarka North police station and further investigation considering all plausible angles is underway,” a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, the victim’s friends, including the two persons, who were consuming alcohol with the deceased, are being quizzed.
