A group of drunken youth, who were driving in a rash manner, allegedly attacked a constable and abused two others when the cops asked them not to drive rashly, in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, police said on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Monday when Constable Mohd Alam was on picket duty along with constables Prithwiraj and Sushil at Masudpur near Malik Hotel, said a senior police officer.
Around 11 pm, an over-speeding Skoda car that was being driven in a rash manner, came near the picket and was about to ram into the barricades but the accident was averted, he said.
The constables objected about the car being driven at high speed and warned the driver who was also accompanied by others, he added.
They attacked Constable Alam, who sustained injuries on his left knee while the other two constables were verbally abused by the men, who were in an inebriated condition, he said. Before they could be caught, they fled from the spot.
