The police on Sunday detained a 27-year-old woman, a resident of Nepal, for allegedly creating a ruckus outside the Vasant Vihar police station and slapping a policewoman. According to the police, the woman was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place.
The incident took place in the morning when she hired an autorickshaw. She allegedly misbehaved with the autorickshaw driver while on board. Despite being asked by the auto driver to get down, she kept sitting. The auto driver then took her to the Vasant Vihar police station.
When he informed the police, she got down from the vehicle and created a ruckus. A team, including policewomen, reached the spot and tried to control the woman. But she slapped one of the policewomen, who slapped her back. But this did not deter the woman. She allegedly thrashed the policewoman again. Seeing that the situation was getting out of hand, other police officials intervened.
An eye-witness captured the act on his cellphone and handed over the footage to the police. The police informed senior officials and the woman was taken to the Safdarjung hospital for examination. In the report, she was found to be under the influence of alcohol.Â
She was detained by the police and was later released.Â
