A woman accompanied by a male friend travelling in a Mercedes car thrashed two men under the influence of alcohol in New Delhi’s Connaught Place area on Tuesday night after their car rammed into their bike, leaving them injured.
The incident took place right in front of gate number six of the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. According to a video which went viral online, the girl was seen misbehaving with the policemen and even got into a scuffle with the staff of the RML hospital where she was taken for a medical examination. The Patiala House Court on Tuesday sent the woman to one day judicial custody.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman identified as Neha Ansari and the man, Prashant entered into a heated argument after their car collided with the bike. Locals present at the scene tried to stop the couple from fleeing after the accident. That enraged the woman and she brutally started hitting the injured men.
Meanwhile, medical examination conducted by the hospital confirmed the presence of alcohol in their body beyond permissible limits.
“We have registered two cases. One is against the car driver at Connaught Place police station for rash and negligent driving while the second case has been registered against the woman for preventing government officials from performing duties at the North Avenue police station,” said Jatin Narwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).
Prashant is a doctor at a private hospital at Noida Sec-35 while Neha Ansari is a former HR professional in the same hospital.
Introducing herself as the daughter of a rich man, she threatened the locals of dire consequences if they intervened in the matter.
When the traffic cops and Connaught Place police station team reached the spot and asked her to accompany them, she became furious and used abusive language. She was then, somehow, made to sit inside the police van and taken to the police station where she continued creating nuisance.
