Drunk driving: 75-year-old man dies, two others injured

The incident took place at around 5.30 am when Amit (22) lost control over his speeding car. He first rammed into a cycle-rickshaw before hitting a pedestrian, identified as Bal Mukund (75) to death. The accused was arrested from the spot.

The police have also recovered a bottle of alcohol and disposable glasses from the damaged car. At the time of the incident two persons were sitting in the car including the driver. Both of them were found under the influence of alcohol. The locals nabbed the duo and handed over to police.

The victim is a resident of Chajjupur and is survived with his wife and three married sons. The two injured persons have been identified as Lal Bahadur (44) and Tejpal (55). Tejpal was riding the rickshaw while Tejpal was his passenger at the time of accident. Tejpal was released from the hospital, but Bahadur is still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car has booked for rash and negligent driving.
