Drunk driver rams Audi into police barricade in central Delhi

The policemen patrolling the area managed a narrow escape while the driver has received injuries.
According to police, on Saturday late night a speeding grey color Audi coming from ITO rammed the car on the barricades put near Gate number 1 of Pragati Maidan. The barricades were dragged for about 50 meters and stopped the car in the middle of the road, causing traffic snarls in the mid-night.
The driver, identified as Angad (23) was immediately taken out of the car and was found under the influence of alcohol. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was discharged after providing medical aide.
A case of rash and negligence and drunken driving has been registered against the accused. Angad’s father owns the car whose personal details have not been disclosed by the police officials.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 14-month-old toddler was killed when a car crushed her in a parking lot in north-east Delhi, police said on Sunday.
The accident was reported on Saturday evening from Karawal Nagar area in north-east Delhi. At the time of the incident, Manisha was playing in the parking area when she was crushed. The car was being parked by a neighbour, who fled from the spot after the accident, police said.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. ‘The victim stayed in a shanty in the parking area with her parents. At the time of the incident, she was playing in the area,’ said a police official. A case of negligent driving causing death has been registered against Ravinder, the accused who is still at large. However his vehicle has been seized from the crime spot.
