Drugs worth Rs 5 cr recovered by Delhi Police Crime Branch

Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two drug traffickers in separate cases and recovered 50 kg pseudoephedrine from an SUV car used for transporting illegal drug and 3 kg quality charas from their possession respectively in separate incidents. The total cost of the recovered drugs is more than Rs 5 crore in the international market.

The accused have been identified as Ram Kumar (22) and Mahmood Alam (39). According to police, in the first incident, one Brijesh Kumar Pandey, a member of an international drugs syndicate is involved in illegal trade of supplying of pseudoephedrine from his shop. A specific information was received that Pandey would supply a huge quantity of pseudoephedrine to his customer near Nirman Vihar Metro Station in a black Scorpio.

On this, a trap was laid and the accused Ram Kumar was apprehended. After the car was searched, 50 kg of pseudoephedrine was recovered which was packed in two sacks. Subsequently, a case under NDPS Act was registered and the accused Ram Kumar has been arrested.

On interrogation, he revealed that he hailed from UP and came to Delhi about 2-3 years back in search of job and started residing alongwith his cousin Brijesh Kumar Pandey, who is in the pharmaceutical business and running his shop in Chandni Chowk area.

It has been learnt that Pandey is running an interstate syndicate, indulged in illegal trade of pseudoephedrine in connivance with various pharmaceutical companies situated in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand that manufacture the drug. The accused, Brijesh Kumar Pandey, is still absconding and efforts are being made to arrest other members of this international syndicate.

In the second incident, Mahmood Alam was apprehended and 3 kg of quality charas was recovered from him.
