Wafting in the divine melodies of sufi music, ‘Legends of India 14th Annual Sangeet Mahotsav ‘ is here in the capital to take you on a two day musical extravaganza from 1 June at Kamani Auditorium. In this edition of the festival, Kavita Seth, Bickram Ghosh and Parvati Kumari will invoke the almighty through their unique take on Sufi music.
Day one features the essence of sufism in 'Ru-ba-ru Ek Ruhaani Ehsaas’ , which will be performed by Kavita Seth. Seth's stirring compositions carved a niche for her in Bollywood through songs like Iktara from Wake Up Sid and Tum hi ho Bandhu from Cocktail. Hear her in a different avatar as she sways the audience with her soulful Sufi renditions.
The following evening will bring you the renowned percussionist Bickram Ghosh and Sufi singer Parvati Kumari for a jamming session called Sufusion. This fusion of forms will be a treat to watch for the audience, as it beckons them on an enthralling musical journey where different Sufi styles merge with riveting rhythms and age-old traditions get re-interpreted through the help of technology induced sound designing.
' Through my band Rhythmscape, we have always tried to reinterpret India classical music and given it a modern form. With Parvati on board, we decided to take up our long cherished dream of producing a Sufi fusion,' says Ghosh.
This time around, he brings you Sufusion where dholak jams with tabla to take sufism to an exalting high as the evening draws to a close. As the capital takes on the sufi fervour, make sure you do not miss out on this soulful musical expedition.
