Accidents during dark hours in the national capital have declined by ten per cent in the first three months compared to same period last year.
While there is understandable concern for high end vehicles getting involved in accidents on city roads in night, police said, in first three and a half months of 2012 night accidents have come down by more than 10 per cent.
"Last year up to April 15, the city had 270 fatal accidents, which have come down to 240 this year. We are working on getting still better systems like speed cameras to further reduce these accidents.
"The decline this year is over and above decline in 2010 and 2011. Reason for success is better traffic management and interventions on roads witnessing more accidents. It is satisfying that accidents are coming down in time zones of 2100 to 0000 hours and 0000 hours to 0400 hours," Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said.
