DRDO employee attempts suicide on Metro track

A DRDO official allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of a speeding metro train at the Udyog Bhawan metro station on Thursday afternoon.
He was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he had to undergo a surgery and of his legs had to be amputated. His condition is still reported to be critical, said a police official.
The person was identified as Rajiv Kumar (33), who works with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). No suicide note was recovered from his possession and it is yet to be ascertained why he allegedly tried to kill himself.
According to the police, Kumar jumped in front of the train heading towards Jahangirpuri around 12.23 pm. The operator pressed the brake on time and later his body was pulled out from the base of the train.
The police checked for his identity card to immediately called up his wife. Kumar’s wife later informed the police that he was depressed from the past few days but even she didn’t know the reason behind his depression.
