Before the kidney trade racket was busted, Sarin left the country and went to the US. He had a return ticket of Thursday. In the meantime, his secretarial staff members were arrested and during investigation, the SIT has not yet given a clean chit to Sarin.
“We are waiting for his return on Thursday and teams are deployed at the International Indira Gandhi Airport to keep a tab on his movement. Though, Sarin’s role has not cropped up but it is necessary to keep a vigil on him. In case, he cancels his trip, the suspicion on him will surely build up and if required we might send a legal notice to him to join the probe,” a highly placed source said.
Meanwhile, T Rajkumar Rao, the mastermind of the racket who was once arrested in Chennai, has been brought to Delhi on three-days transit remand. During investigation, it has come to light that he used to prepare the forged documents for the donors and the recipients. Also, he used to identify the targets (mainly poor and the needy) and ask Aseem Sikdar, the tout who was arrested last week, to lure them to sell the kidney against handsome money.
Rao, who is believed to be associated with similar rackets in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, was arrested on Tuesday in West Bengal. The donor who has been arrested on Wednesday has been identified as Bhanu Pratap. He was arrested from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. His relative has also been detained by the police, who is supposedly the fifth donor in the case. Three donors were earlier arrested by the cops out which there was a couple and a wife of one of the arrested touts.
During investigation, it also came to light that Satya Prakash, one of the touts, has also sold off his kidney for Rs 4 lakh before joining the gang. He wanted to take divorce from his wife and to settle the court case along with compensation given to her, he needed the money. Later, he joined the gang and started luring people to sell off their kidneys.
Interestingly, Devashish Mauli, another tout, also tried to sell his kidney but during medical examination he was rejected as the size of his kidney was very small. Later, he sold his wife — Maumita’s kidney in May at a sum of Rs 4 lakh.
