Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal on Wednesday called a meeting of four party MLAs in a bid to end infighting for tickets.
The names of these MLAs were put on hold when the Central Election Committee decided on the list of candidates for the assembly elections. The meeting was chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier on 1 November, some party workers had protested outside Agarwal’s residence against a group of party workers who had reportedly complained to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi that six MLAs and two party ministers should not be given party tickets, as there were problems with their working style.
The meeting included four sitting MLAs Yoganand Shastri (Mehrauli), Anil Kumar (Patparganj), Maleram Gangwal (Madipur) and Balram Tanwar (Chhatarpur).
Gandhi had directed Agarwal to handle the situation. It is understood Agarwal has conveyed Rahul’s message to MLAs to cooperate with the block presidents, district presidents, councillors and other party workers.
