Don’t take major decisions without sanction of house, warns Congress

‘Only the assembly has the power to approve allocation of the budget to various heads. The officers of power department had told us that they don’t have the money to bear more subsidies. How have you made an announcement regarding subsidy on power?’, asked Lovely.

He also asked the chief minister to fix responsibility of officers who advise the chief minister on such matters, as they are providing him with wrong information. ‘The financial burden due to 50 per cent subsidy will be more than Rs 240 crore per month, as announced by Kejriwal. It will come to around Rs 315 crore per month. From where you will divert the money to fill this gap,?’, he asked the chief minister. Lovely also cautioned the chief minister to look into the legalities behind such matters, before announcing any decision.

‘We are very clean on the issue of corruption, so want to support the government. They are free to inquire into all the allegations of scams,’ said Lovely. He also urged the chief minister to inquire into corruption scams involving the Municipal Corporation departments.

Taking a potshot at leader of opposition Dr Harsh Vardhan, he said, ‘Wherever you see, you will find corruption in MCD. Dr Harsh Vardhan is being selective in his outrage’. The Congress leader promised to support the government till it works in the interest of the people of Delhi and fulfils the promises it has made to public. ‘We extended our support to AAP and saved Delhi from re-elections. I want to tell AAP that it should not act in a hasty manner,’ he said.

Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely further taunted Dr Harsh Vardhan by saying, ‘It is the first time that I have seen Doctor Saab talk so much. No matter what you do, you will always sit in opposition.

Speaking to Millennium Post about his comments on the ‘misguidance’ offered by civil servant officials and fixing their responsibilities, Lovely said, ‘I have just highlighted the issue before chief minister. Now it is up to him on how he reacts’.
