The advocate has represented those accused of terror strikes.
Petitioner MS Khan has filed a complaint to Delhi police commissioner and home secretary in North Block after receiving threats from an international number, allegedly linked to underworld don, Ravi Pujari. A High Court bench, led by justice Veena Birbal on Monday has ordered the police department and home ministry to present the status report.
‘The petitioner and his family are under threat of life by under-world don Ravi Pujari, only for the reason that the petitioner is an advocate and defending terror suspects,’ Khan said in his petition. He also claimed that complaints were made to the police by all means but Delhi police allegedly didn’t respond to the email in the requisite time.
The petitioner initially approached the Supreme Court. However he was asked by the apex court to refer his case to Delhi High Court. Khan said, ‘The apex court has not refused to entertain the petition. All it has done is that the matter be referred to High Court, in order to expedite the hearing and to grant appropriate relief’.
Khan in his petition mentioned that he has dealt cases related to 26/11 Mumbai attack, Delhi serial blast case, Ayodhya attack, which involved terror accused such as Abu Salem, Tunda, Yasin Bhatkal and others.
