Domestic help held for killing 76-yr-old woman

A female domestic servant has been arrested for murdering her old mistress with the help of security guards of an apartment in Ghaziabad. The police have also recovered the cash looted in the case.

According to the police, the servant Pushpa (35) was hired by a software engineer couple. Anchal and Sudhir, who live in a flat at Shipra Sun City of Indirapuram, hired the maid around a week before the incident. The victim was Anchal’s mother who used to come at her flat in the afternoon when the couple were out at their workplaces. 

Last Tuesday, the domestic servant and a guard of the apartment smothered the 76-year-old woman Raj Quatra and stabbed her with a kitchen knife to ensure that she was dead. 

Quartra also lives in the same area in another flat with her husband. The accused ransacked the flat but find get only Rs 3,000 and some gold jewellery.

‘We have recovered the money from the possession of Pushpa but gold jewellery are with the guards who are still absconding,’ said SS Yadav, superintendent of police in Ghaziabad. The maid was arrested from a relative’s house in Delhi. According to the police, the servant was new and no record was available so they faced difficulty in tracing her.

This is the second such incident in the satellite town of Ghaziabad. On Thursday, police arrested a female domestic help was and her friend for murdering the wife of a retired Railways officer on 12 August. The married domestic help developed a relationship with Ashutosh Manju (62) and murdered his wife Nirmala (59) to get a share in the property. She also convinced his married friend to help in the crime on the promise that she would get her married sister to marry him.
