Doda youth brings laurels to army, J&K by winning bronze

Coming from the mountainous belt of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, shooter Chain Singh has brought laurels to the valley and his Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) by winning a bronze medal in the ongoing 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

‘The sterling performance of Havaldar Chain Singh has brought laurels to Army and fulfilled the Indian Army and Army Marksmanship Unit’s promise to the nation,’ PRO Defence Lt Col Manish Mehta said on Monday.

Lt Col Mehta said that it also displayed the relentless commitment of the Army Marksmanship Unit towards Olympic excellence.

On 27 September, 2014, Hav Chain Singh won an individual bronze medal by scoring 1164 out of 1200 in 50m rifle three position and 441.7 in final out of 490.5.

Chain Singh made it possible through his hard work, selfless dedication and mentorship of AMU. He also crossed his personal best score of 1162 during the Games. He is an ace shooter of Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), an elite sports unit and the shooting node of the Indian Army.
