Do you have floyd on your mind?

Floyd lovers who would never imagine getting that live light and sound Floyd show, a sure treat is round the corner. India’s only Pink Floyd Tribute show band — Think Floyd — is going live in the Capital this week.

Think Floyd is a convergence of artistes from various bands and includes Abhishek Mathur [guitar and vocals], Chayan Adhikari [vocals and guitar], Gaurav Chintamani [guitar] and Anindo Bose [keyboards and computers] from the band Advaita, Chintan Kalra [bass and vocals] from Parikrama, Surojit Dev [drums] from Them Clones, Rohit Kulkarni [guitar and vocals] from Rohit Kulkarni and Band. The band, which started of its journey in early 2006, not only plays select Pink Floyd numbers but also features a sound and light show to recreate the paranormal magic of Pink Floyd.

‘We recreate the sound in a manner that it remains true to the band. Ours is a tribute band and it has to be in accordance with how Pink Floyd would have wanted it to be. We cannot mess with their sounds and create something new. There are many who have never got the chance to listen to a live Pink Floyd performance. So, in a way, our performance is a chance for those Floyd lovers to be able to enjoy the music they love,’ says Rohit Kulkarni.

‘The Floyd sounds are very complicated and yet so simple. We do all that we can to get the entire act together as per our and Pink Floyd’s demands,’ adds Rohit.

‘We remain very specific in the way we recreate the environment for Floyd lovers. We have played a lot of times at various events. This performance is going to be after four months, so fans can look forward to it. The ambience of the venue we choose is very important to us. The venue needs to do justice to the show to go in sync with the light and sound show that we perform,’ says Chintan Kalra.

‘We try to project contemporary significance of the philosophical lyrics of Pink Floyd. How much of it is still relevant in the modern times and how the world hasn’t changed. We have an extensive list, so the show will be around four hours. We do not want to leave out anything for Floyd lovers,’ he added.

It’s going to be a night to savour  music and relive the psychedelic magic.
