DND Flyway to give free passage to women drivers on March 8

In view of giving special attention to women motorists on March 8, the occasion of International Women’s day, the DND Flyway will remain toll-free for women drivers. The NTBCL, operator of the Flyway, said that the flyway will remain free for 24 hours — starting from 12 am – 12 pm on Tuesday.

Anwar Abbasi, NTBCL spokesperson, said that toll-free vehicle movement will be allowed on both sides of the flyway — at Noida toll plaza and Mayur Vihar toll plaza. The toll staff will greet women commuters. We will also gift bouquets to the first few women drivers at the toll plaza,” he said.

The officials said that women must be on the driving seat to avail the service. Vehicles will be exempted from toll payment if a woman is either driving alone or with a male colleague sitting inside the vehicle. The women motorists welcomed the NTBCL move and appreciated it. “I am glad to hear about this news that like western countries, now India has also thought of International Women’s Day,” said Namrata Gupta, a senior MNC executive who works in Noida.
