DMs pulled up for being too casually attired

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to <g data-gr-id="29">Chhattisgarh</g> last week has left the bureaucracy in somewhat of a turmoil. While the Prime Minister is known for making a statement through his dress sense, two IAS officers of the state have been pulled up for deviating from <g data-gr-id="19">protocol</g> in these matters.

In a warning letter issued to Amit Kataria, a 2004 batch IAS officer and Collector, Bastar, the state government said while receiving the Prime Minister on May 9 “it has come to notice that you were not wearing a proper dress and had also put on sunglasses.” The letter said that it was in violation of section 3(i) of All India Services (Conduct) Rules which says that every member of the Services shall at all times maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and shall do nothing which is unbecoming of a member of the service.

The state government has also slapped <g data-gr-id="17">notice</g> on Dantewada Collector K C Devsenapati, as he had worn a white shirt and trousers during his meeting with Modi. <g data-gr-id="16">Kataria on the other hand</g> had received Modi wearing sunglasses and blue shirt while receiving the Prime Minister.

The officers are supposed to be dressed in ‘Bandhgala’ on such occasions as they are representing the state government in the district.
