Construction of the Phase III network, that will add another 140 km to the existing network, stretching over 190 km, has been going on at a full swing, he said.
Singh, who had earlier written to the former Chief Secretary DM Spolia in this regard, said a few families in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri, who will be affected by the under-construction corridor, had rejected the offer of rehabilitation. “We are yet to get 100 <g data-gr-id="38">per cent</g> consent from the residents of Trilokpuri. Everyone will have to agree. At Punjabi Bagh, the issue is over <g data-gr-id="39">jhuggis</g>. The Mayapuri site is located beside a rail track,” he said.
All three sites fall on the upcoming 58-km-long Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor.
According to the DMRC, 95 per cent work has been completed at all three stations – <g data-gr-id="28">Samaypur</g> <g data-gr-id="29">Badli</g>, Rohini Sector 18 and Badli Mor.
“One of the challenges was to construct the elevated bridge over the busy Delhi-Ambala line between Adarsh Nagar and <g data-gr-id="27">Badli</g> stations. We used a 45-metre steel bridge resting on piers that are 12 metres above the track,” Singh said.
Singh said the Amendments to the Metro Act in 2009 had made the process of formalities, required to launch a line, longer.
The Badarpur-Faridabad extension, trial runs for which have already been done, would “hopefully” be thrown open to commuters by the end of this month, he said. Delhi Metro on Friday began trial runs on the Jahangirpuri-<g data-gr-id="36">Samaypur</g> <g data-gr-id="37">Badli</g> section, which is likely to be operational by the end of this month, said a Metro official.
