Delhi chief secretary SK Srivastava has been replaced by Deepak Mohan Spolia, currently financial commissioner in the Delhi government, sources said on Wednesday.
An IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-union territories cadre, Spolia was first made Delhi chief secretary in December 2012 and was removed from the post by the union home ministry following a request by the then chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Sources said in the government say the sudden decision on transfer of the SK Srivastava has been taken following many complaints him.
Recently, the city BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and many party MLAs of Delhi had complained against the Delhi officers for their lethargic attitude.
Sources also said that the Delhi BJP legislators frowned over him as he delayed or rejected some of their requests. It is expected that Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung is likely to be shunted out soon. The former Delhi Police CommissionerAjay Raj Sharma, Vijay Kumar Malhotra and former principal secretary Shakti Sinha are in the race.
Spolia’s reappointment came just three days after a BJP delegation led by party’s Delhi chief Satish Upadhyay met union home minister Rajnath Singh and complained against ‘rigid attitude’ of certain officials in the city administration.
