The Delhi Jal Board has claimed that Delhiites will no longer have to suffer for potable drinking water as it has commissioned five new water reservoirs, especially in areas which face severe shortage.
DJB’s spokesperson informed that five new water reservoirs have been commissioned on Thursday at Sultanpur Dabas, Qutab Garh, Ram Lila Ground, Kirari and an underground reservoir (UGR) near ESI Hospital on Anandmai Marg, which have improved the water supply in the colonies of Northwest district.
‘This is an important step in providing piped water supply to the residents who have been dependent mainly on the tube well and tanker services of DJB,’ said a senior officer. By commissioning of the new UGRs at Kirari and near the ESI Hospital on Anandmai Marg, about 2 lakh people living in 50 unauthorised colonies have been provided potable water facility through the piped network, the DJB claimed.
