Delhi Jal Board on Monday claimed to have laid pipelines in 217 colonies, maximum till date, in the first year of AAP government. “Of the 186 km of pipelines laid, only 19 km was re-laid and 167 km was newly laid with a total coverage of 217 unauthorised colonies, which is the maximum number of colonies covered in one year (2015-16) in the history of Delhi Jal Board,” a senior DJB official said. DJB has set a target of covering 300 more colonies in the current year and achieve the target of supplying piped water to every household in the city by 2017, the official said. The total number of unauthorised colonies covered by water pipelines has gone up to 1,119 with the coverage of 217 more colonies. Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra claimed CM Arvind Kejriwal has delivered on his poll promise of providing basic facilities to all unauthorised colonies which had long been left out of the planning process.
