DJB approves Rs 2,018 crore supply improvement project

The Delhi Jal Board granted approval for the award of the consultancy/design work for the JICA assisted (ODA loan funded) Delhi Water Supply Improvement Project for the rehabilitation of the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Command Area.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,018 crore and aims to achieve equitable and improved water supply in the Chandrawal WTP Command Area.
Chandrawal WTP is the oldest water treatment plant of Delhi Jal Board and caters to about 2.20 million people.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who is also the chairperson of DJB, chaired the 113th meeting in which the decision was made.
Various key projects were discussed and approved which aim at improving the operational efficiency of Delhi Jal Board by renovating and upgrading ageing infrastructure and piloting innovative approaches to wastewater management and reuse to improve environmental conditions in the city. The implementation of the project will boost the socio-economic and environmental aspects of Delhi.
