A number of BJP workers from Sultan Puri, Gandhi Nagar and Mehrauli held a protest on Monday outside Delhi BJP office here accusing the party leadership of ‘not adhering to clear guidelines’ in selection of candidates of assembly polls in Delhi.
Also on Monday, six local leaders in two assembly constituencies resigned from their posts in protest, as the party refused to heed to their demands to change candidates from Vishwas Nagar and Shakur Basti area. ‘Six mandal presidents: Three each from Sahkur Basti and Vishwas Nagar have resigned,’ said a BJP spokesperson. The party has divided each assembly seat into four mandals for poll management.
‘The selection process was totally flawed. No criteria was followed in selection of candidates,’ alleged a ticket-seeker.
Angry over not getting nomination for coming assembly elections in Delhi, North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Azad Singh on Saturday resigned from his post.
Meanwhile, protests at Mundka, Mehauli, Dwarka, Hari Nagar and Seelampur continued, despite the first list of 58 candidates being announced seven days back. The party has not shown any intention to change any candidate nominated in the first list.
