Discom hands over two night shelters to DUSIB

Two night shelters, each of which can house 50 people, were handed over to DUSIB today in north and northwest Delhi by a major power discom.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL), which built the shelters, said they cover an area of 972 sq.ft, are waterproof and even have specially-crafted beds.

Speaking about the initiative, TPDDL CEO Praveer Sinha said, “We are confident that the two night shelters would help the needy in the prevailing cold conditions.”

Sinha added that the company will soon set up three more night shelters in north and northwest
Delhi.

“The two shelters which were handed over to DUSIB are located at ISBT, adjacent to the foot-over bridge near Metro line, and at Mori Gate near MCD Park, adjacent to the roundabout,” TPDDL said in a statement here.

DUSIB later handed over the shelters to an NGO, ‘Prayas’, which was entrusted with their maintenance and running.
